Ingredients
1 ½lbsLean Ground Beef(I like 90% lean)
¾cupBread Crumbs(or panko, saltine crackers)
½cupMilk
1largeEggbeaten
2teaspoonsWorcestershire Sauce
½cupFinely Diced Onion
¼cupFinely Diced Carrotoptional
¼cupDiced Green Pepperoptional
1 ½teaspoonsGarlic Powder
½teaspoonOnion Powder
1teaspoonItalian Seasoningoptional
1teaspoonKosher Salt
½teaspoonPepper
Sauce Topping
½cupKetchup
¼cupBarbecue Sauce(or chili sauce)
2TablespoonsBrown Sugar
Instructions
Heat the oven to 350° F. Coat a loaf pan with cooking spray.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion, carrot, bell pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix the ingredients together, but do not overmix.
Transfer the meat mixture to the loaf pan and press it in, but don't pack it too tightly.
Make the Sauce Topping
In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, mix together the ketchup, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar.
Pour the sauce over the top of the meatloaf and spread evenly.
Bake
Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 155°-160°F.
Allow the meatloaf to stand for 5 minutes before slicing and serving it.
Notes
Variations: • Add 1 cup of shredded cheese
• Add 1 tsp smoked paprika
• Substitute half of the ground beef with ground sausage
• Use ground turkey
