I used macaroni elbow noodles in this recipe. But you can swap that out for other similar size pasta. Make sure it measures 8-ounces so the recipe will turn out correctly.

How to Make the Best Sloppy Joe Casserole
• Gather everything you will need. Chop the onion and bell pepper, shred the cheese, etc.
• Preheat oven to 350° F. Spray a 9”x13” baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
• Bring a large pot of water (with a teaspoon of salt in it) to a boil and cook the macaroni according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
• Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil, and the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up the meat. Drain grease.
• Add the butter, onion, and bell pepper. Sauté until soft.
• Add the salt, pepper, tomatoes, chiles, brown sugar, garlic powder, chili powder, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.
• Combine the meat mixture with the cooked macaroni.
• Add meat/pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes, uncovered.
• Then sprinkle with the cheese and bake about 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
• Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve.

- Lean Ground Turkey can be used in place of the beef.
- I tend to cook with less salt. If you feel that this needs more, I suggest waiting to add salt at the table to individual servings.

- Lean Ground Turkey can be used in place of the beef (97/3 or 85/15).
