Mashed potatoes are one of the best side dishes! There are so mant ways to flavor them to compliment your meal. Today’s recipe has a nice onion vibe.

I wouldn’t say that these mashed potatoes taste like sour cream & onion potato chips, but the general flavor does lean that way. Though much less salty!

What I like about this crock pot mashed potatoes recipe is that I can set them up and walk away and get stuff done. No need to watch a boiling pot.

The steps to make Slow Cooker Sour Cream Onion Mashed Potatoes are so easy:

Add the potatoes, onion, garlic, and some salt to the crock. Cover with water and cook until the potatoes are tender.

Then drain them and add back into the crock.

Add some butter and the seasonings and mash up the potatoes with a potato masher (if using a masher, remove the garlic if you can find it as it will be in large pieces).

You can use a hand mixer if you like a smoother consistency.

Add the sour cream and mix it in well.

This is a good time to take a taste and adjust the salt or other seasonings before the next step.
