Steak Bites in the Crockpot
This is a meat and potatoes meal that is super flavorful, filling, and so easy to make.
When cooked low and slow, the steak bites come out tender, and the potatoes are cooked just right.
What We Love About This Recipe
• No need to precook anything.
• Just dump the ingredients the slow cooker and come back when it is all cooked.
• The steak is tender and flavorful.
• The potatoes cook with the meat (it's like having the side dish cook with the main!).
• Easy to find ingredients and not too many.
• Very customizable.
Ingredients in Steak Bites
- Steak – You can use any tender, boneless cut of steak, cut into cubes. Sirloin tip steak, strip steak, ribeye or stew meat will all work. You can also use beef tenderloin/filet if you want, and they will be super tender.
- Potatoes – I prefer Yukon Gold, but you can use red potatoes or Russets. You can use regular sized potatoes cut up, or a bag of baby potatoes whole.
- Minced Garlic – I strongly recommend using fresh minced garlic. Garlic powder alone won't give the best flavor, but does enhance the fresh garlic.
- Steak Seasoning, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder – Adds more flavor and zest to the recipe. You can omit if you don't have any.
- Butter – If you use salted butter, don't add salt. Salt can be added to a serving as desired.
- Green Onion – Optional garnish. It adds a nice little bit of brightness to the flavor.
How to Make Slow Cooker Steak Bites Recipe
1) Simply add all of the ingredients to the Slow cooker.
2) Mix everything together.
3) Cooked on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Cooking it low and slow produces the most tender steak bites.
Tips & Variations
- Potatoes – You don't have to cook potatoes with the steak bites. Simply leave them out if you wish.
• Don't cut the potatoes too small or they'll get too soft. Unless you are going to mash them! - Garlic – You can use "Jarlic", though I prefer fresh garlic. But use what you like or have on hand!
- Vegetables – Try adding some baby carrots and/or a chopped onion if you'd like more veggies.
- For More Gravy – Add a cup of Beef Broth and thicken with a cornstarch slurry for a thick gravy.

Garlic Butter Steak Bites and Potatoes
Equipment
- Slow Cooker
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Sirloin Tip Steak (or chuck roast, etc) cubed
- 2 lbs Potatoes cut in 2" pieces
- 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt (omit if using salted butter)
- 2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
- ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 teaspoon Steak Seasoning
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter sliced
- Green Onion for garnish
Instructions
- Cube the steak, then cut up the potatoes into about 2-inch pieces.
- Add all of the ingredients to the Slow cooker. Mix everything together.
- Cooked on low for 5-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Cooking it low and slow produces the most tender steak bites. Cook time will depend on the size of the beef chunks (and potato pieces). Start checking for doneness at the 5 hour mark on low, and at the 3 hour mark on high, to prevent drying out the meat.
- Serve as is or with a green salad.
