Double Chocolate Brownies
Today I am sharing with you my Nana’s amazing homemade brownie recipe. An absolute favorite of our family.
We call them “Double Chocolate” because this recipe uses both cocoa powder and chocolate chips.
If you frost them, then you will have a Triple Threat! Yum!
These brownies are very easy to make, using just one bowl to mix everything in, and a pan to bake them in.
The center of the brownies are fudgy and moist. When you bite into them you will get incredible texture and intense chocolate flavor!
You may want to make two batches. Just in case.
Here are the steps to make these moist, delicious chocolate brownies:
Bake the brownies at 325°, with the baking dish just below the center rack so it’s not too close to the bottom heating element.
If you choose to frost them, be sure to cool the brownies completely first.
This brownie recipe makes 9 nice sized pieces. You can cut them a little smaller and still get a good serving if trying to feed more people.

- 1 1/4 cups Sugar
- 3/4 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
- 2 lg Eggs
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 cup All Purpose Flour
- 1/8 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- Chocolate Frosting* optional, but awesome!
Instructions
- Heat oven to 325° F.
- Line the bottom of a 8"x8" baking pan with parchment paper and spray it with cooking spray.
- Melt the butter in a microwave safe mixing bowl (about 25-30 seconds).
- Add the sugar and stir.
- Add the oil and cocoa powder. Mix well. Let cool a few minutes if very warm.
- Whisk in the vanilla and eggs.
- Stir in the flour, baking soda, salt.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Add the batter to the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30 minutes, until the brownies look set and a knife inserted into the middle comes out with just some moist crumbs. Try not to over bake. It's better to slightly under bake to get that fudgey consistency.
- Let cool completely, then frost with a chocolate frosting*.
